Categorization Of Human Beings On The Basis Of Sexual Inclination

The common and most general way to perceive an individual's sexuality is to carefully notice his sexual inclination, i.e. whether he is sexually attracted to a male or female. In the different periods of life, a person meets members of the male as well as the female sex and shows specific sexual tendencies which further determine his sexuality.

On the basis of whether a person is attracted to a member of the same sex, to the opposite sex or to both sexes, the sexuality of human beings is classified into three types: homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality.

Homosexuality

Expression of erotic or sexual affection between two members of the same sex is termed as homosexuality and the members of the male as well as the female sex who indulge in same-sex relationships are homosexuals. On being a homosexual, an individual forms emotional bonding with the members of the same sex and feels uncomfortable to share his feelings with the opposite sex. Homosexual people are also referred to as gays and lesbians. Gays refer to self-confessed homosexual men and lesbians are women who consider themselves homosexuals.

As only a small minority in the world forms the homosexual community, these people fall into a distinguished group and is sometimes considered as abnormal by the members of the other section. More so because such a relationship is incapable of giving birth to a new life. As a consequence, in spite of the fact that modernity has hugely influenced the minds of people into taking on a liberal stand towards homosexuality, homosexuals throughout the world are occasionally humiliated and excluded from the mainstream.

Heterosexuality

Heterosexuality defines erotic or sexual bonding between the members of the opposite sex and heterosexuals constitute the mainstream society. Heterosexuality is considered as the conventional form of sexuality in the society and unlike to homosexuality, heterosexual relations are capable of reproduction.

Giving birth to off springs is possible only through the sexual intercourse between a male and a female only and this is the specific advantageous feature of heterosexuality over homosexuality.

Bisexuality

Bisexuality is a separate phenomenon far distinct from both homosexuality in the sense that bisexual people are attracted to both sexes, i.e. males as well as females. Due to the sexual orientation of bisexual people towards the both sexes, they are termed as homosexual as well as heterosexual.

Similar to homosexuals, the bisexual fraternity is also a minority in the world and forms a specific group in the society. The common perception about bisexual people that they are adulterous or they often indulge in casual sex with several partners is not the reality. Like normal people, bisexuals are also capable of leading healthy sex with a single partner of the opposite sex and offer their own contribution towards reproduction.
